I would like to begin by saying I do believe congratulations are in order for starting your own business. But let’s not be complacent as companies require undivided attention especially if it’s in its inception stage. I’m guessing you’ve probably invested all your life’s savings into it hoping it will yield the desired returns soon. Getting your business out there is likely to be an uphill task more so if you’re a newbie in the industry. You have to make your business grow and fight off competition simultaneously. The photography industry has evolved over the years. You should capitalize on every opportunity that comes knocking.
Below are some of the ideas I came up with, that can assist you to maneuver through this dicey situation and grow your Michigan Photography business.
1. Website creation
In this new era, this is the new business card. Use the site to upload all your photo samples and branding. Let people see the kind of service you’re offering concerning quality and quantity. The site gives you a chance to woo clients by letting them compare what you got to what your competitors have. Allow them to be able to get your contact information, your location, and pricing range.
2. Customer service
Make your consumers feel valued. In whatever service you deliver, deliver more than expected. The customer will come back more than once just to receive that kind of quality service. Strive to not only go above but also beyond. Scout your competitors and note what they don’t offer. That’s your ace to use.
3. Do charity
Human beings inherently love receiving rather than giving. The more you give, people remember you. Charity is a form of marketing strategy. You’ll be putting your business name out there. Ask around for the community calendar and book local events. Be the photographer and pass around business cards. If people in attendance love what they see, you’ll probably walk out of such an even with two or three bookings. That’s ingenious, right? I know!
4. Blog frequently
Uploading fresh content frequently is a way of letting search engine sponsors know you’re busy, so they try to let other people be aware of such activities. You eventually have better rankings. If I visit a site and realize there are only two to three shots available, I’ll keep wondering whether that’s a project you kicked off but gave up midway. But if I log in and consistently find fresh content, I’ll look forward to the next post and even share the blog with my buddies while vacationing.
5. Social media
Post updates every minute so as to increase traffic and awareness. Automate your social media posts. Don’t just post updates on one social media platform. Diversify! Timing is everything. Put up posts during those times people are mostly online. Don’t, however, take too much time on any social media account. You know social media can be very distracting. The other day at the office I was swamped and decided to take a five-minute break. Organically, I logged into my social media account and ended up spending hours there! But boy oh boy! That dancing goat post cracked me up!
6. Network locally
Partner up with other forms of businesses that share the same potential clients. Be creative here and come up with ways both of you can benefit from each other. If you for instance team up with a fashion store that will be an excellent opportunity to showcase the kind of clothes they are offering and your photo taking skills.
Like I told you before, deliver more than expected and the client will not only come back but will also refer their family members or friends. Word of mouth is a form of advertising as it complements your marketing strategy and works. Don’t forget to offer referral bonuses as well.
8. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
The greater the investment, the greater the return so make higher bids such that Google puts your name top of the listings. Anytime customers search specific phrases it’s your business that comes up top of the list. Your ranking will go up and paid traffic will increase tremendously.
9. Get published
Offer free services to a major media house player in the media industry and ask them to include you in one of their publications. This marketing strategy will ensure your business name is out there and your credibility will earn some points as most people trust established media houses. And let’s be candid here, no media house can publish a joke, right?
10. Run a promotion
On the start of my photography business, I gave every fifth wedding couple free photography, and this helped my business in so many ways as people kept sharing the news with engaged couples and other people hoping to tie the knot someday.
Try all these new ideas if you wish to revitalize your Michigan photography business. They won’t cost you a dime, and the possibilities are somewhat endless. Cheers to success!
