Eastpointe’s Light Up the Night Event Glows Brighter in Its Second Year

by | Jan 12, 2024

If you’ve ever dismissed Eastpointe as just a pitstop between Detroit and Mount Clemens, it’s time to rethink! This holiday season, our treasured city morphed into a dazzling wonderland, courtesy of the second annual Light Up the Night event. Trust me, folks, it was a sight to behold!

This year, Fusion Marketing joined forces with the Eastpointe Downtown Development Authority (DDA). Embodying the spirit of Santa Claus, the DDA bestowed a generous gift of $20,000 in grant funds upon local businesses to embellish their buildings with holiday cheer. The outcome? A captivating light show that could even melt the Grinch’s heart.

The mastermind behind this innovative idea is none other than John Hofmann, founder of Fusion Marketing. Last year, he poured his heart and soul into launching the inaugural Light Up the Night, aiming to ignite a festive revolution on Gratiot between 8 and 10 Mile. His successful proof of concept paved the way for an expanded project this year, with the ER Chamber, the city’s DDA, and numerous businesses all coming together. Even businesses like AOK Appliance on 9 Mile joined in on the festivities.

“Imagine a child unwrapping a new toy during the holidays…that’s the level of my excitement right now!” Hofmann expressed enthusiastically. “I’m overjoyed to witness our progress in just two years, and I’m driven to maintain this momentum in 2024.”

This year, the event spanned multiple city blocks, with more than 13 businesses participating, each basking in the warm glow of holiday spirit. To maximize the visual spectacle, all participating businesses were urged to switch on their lights at 7 p.m.

The images captured by Mr. Hofmann highlight the stunning metamorphosis of the Gratiot Avenue corridor. They serve as a testament to the extraordinary results achievable when community spirit is fused with creativity.

Overwhelmed by the event’s success, John shared, “Remember that iconic scene from the Home Alone movies? The one where all the lights start flickering on simultaneously—that’s exactly what we accomplished this year, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.”

Let’s keep this tradition thriving and transform Eastpointe into the brightest constellation on the holiday map. After all, it’s all about radiating joy and bringing awareness to all of our amazing local businesses.
